One of the most successful series in México of the actor and comedian Roberto “Chespirito” Gómez Bolaños, originally aired between 1970 and 1973, presented the not-so-much hero El Chapulín Colorado, a humoristic parody in which a clumsy superhero, wearing a costume inspired in the red grasshopper native to Mexico and Central America, answers to help requests from people in danger, “taking advantage of his nobility” in the most unusual situations and solving them in the most comic and unexpected ways possible. The series captivated the Brazilian audience and was aired there from 1984 to the end of July 2020, by SBT. Played by Bolaños himself, also responsible for playing “El Chavo del Ocho”, Chapulín protects the weak and oppressed with his Squeaky Mallet in many different situations, facing pirates, like the fearsome Alma Negra (Black Soul); outlaw bandits from the Old West, like Rascabuches (Tear-Maw); gangsters, like Cuajináis (Almost-Nothing) and Tripaseca (Dry-Gut); the crazy Pocas Trancas (Few-Lock); besides his heroic rival Super Sam and many others, played by Ramón Valdéz, Carlos Villagrán, Rubén Aguirre and other co-stars from the series “El Chavo del Ocho”.
